Re: Jimmy soft top?
First, welcome to the board. Post some pics of your rig when you get a chance.
As for the top, you're gonna either have to find a used one or make your own. The last manufacture stopped making them about 2 years ago. In my opinion, even if you find one that the canvas/vinyl is shot, it is worth getting for the hardware. It would be far easier to have a new canvas made than to start from scratch. Keep an eye on Craigslists and consider becoming a subscriber so you can post a wanted to buy thread.

Re: Jimmy soft top?
Search the FAQ's and forums. I know there is a thread related to bikini tops where you can order a custom made one for <$250. You're probably looking for a full top, but you might be interested in this also. Welcome to the board!

Re: Jimmy soft top?
I have a Best top that has seen alot of action. I probably have about $200 into repairs on it since my options are fix it or go without. I was told that I could have one made using my old one as a pattern but they would have to cut it up. I did get an upholstry guy make me a Bikinni for just over $200. Questions:
Has anyone on the board used a top that was beyond repair to make a pattern out of and then drawn up plans? What were the soft tops worth to buy them before they stopped making them? In my opinion the Best top hardware kind of sucks. Anyone got pics of a better system of hardware?

If you click on the link in my signature, you can see pics of my STC Fastrac installed. I also have the install instructions (STC Fastrac and Bestop) in a PDF someplace on my computer (or possibly at home). If anyone wants them PM me your email address and I'll email it.

Re: Jimmy soft top?
I payed $750.00 for my bestop. Not the greatest fit you can pull the top down 1" past the snap behind the doors makes the top flap in the wind when the windows are down.

Re: Jimmy soft top?
there is a company in colorado that makes awsome blazer and jimmy tops thats where i got my second one. the best top looked good but wasnt very functional. the name of the company is specialty top company or stc. never mind guess they shut down too. these tops are far superior to the best tops

Re: Jimmy soft top?
I saw a GMC 6x6 "duece-and-a-half" top for sale at a surplus store. Not sure if it's the right dimensions, but I might try it to make a pick-up like half top with it.
[EDIT: too late. They're sold out. But at $80 a pop it would've been worth it.]

Re: Jimmy soft top?
I'd seriously consider that STC top on ebay if I was in need of one right now. You'd get all the hardware and a canvas to have reproduced. Starting from scratch would be a lot more difficult and expensive (of course, I don't know what the reserve is on the top).
I've heard guys getting estimates in the $2,000 plus range for having a custom top made.

Re: Jimmy soft top?
no I had stated that I was working with a boat top manufacture on this. but its not cost efective for me to buy just one. I will be making the frames one off then send the patterns overseas and have them produced

Re: Jimmy soft top?
I had no idea that these tops are not produced any more. I've had a softy on all but my current Blaze, and was hoping to get a new one...Guess not...The real kick in the pants is that I just gave away my perfect top and hardware when I sold my last Blaze...The guy still has it, I think, and is not a softy fan. I think I will try to shmooze it from him. It's a brown top, it went very well with my Ochre Blaze.
