66 burb

hello all
i am sure that this question has been asked and answered but cannot find the posts so i will ask it again.
this is for all the 60-66 burban folks in the room and of course who ever else can help out
i recently bought a 1966 burb that is need of some well deserved TLC but have no idea on where to start looking.
I realize that some of the front end sheet metal will match up with the trucks but what about the rest of the body.
any information on this would be greatly appreciated.
here are a couple of pics
I NEED HELP

Re: 66 burb

Yes, you are correct about the front thru the doors. Same as the pick-ups. After that you are on your own. . I have found window seals and thats about it. You may be able to use patch panels to fix your quarters, but I have seen people mention that the wheelwells are a different size on short vs long boxes....not exactly sure on that part.

I have not seen hatch supports, which I need, tailgate parts or interior stuff anywhere. I think its swap meet/classiccar salvage yard type stuff. My rear push button is messed up too. You can get taillites and fuel senders. I have also heard about people fixing the slider rails in the side windows themselves....they rot where garbage collects in the front channel.

Good luck and let me know if you find anything.

Re: 66 burb

I am in the finishing stages of my 66 burb. I was lucky to get a donor burb that I got the side panels from. One good supplier for a lot of burb parts is www.truckandcarshop.com I am repairing the window slide rails myself. Except for the hood and dash, I think most parts are interchangeable from the 60 thru 66 I have a source for the tailgate supports I have to look it up for you. I only like the glass work and upholstery to finish. .

Yep......The front bumper is the same as the pickup trucks.....................................rear bumpers are slightly different than the front........................When it gets light out tomorrow I'll post a picture of the difference..........................I believe a front bumper will fit the rear of the 64-66 burbs.........................................Hemmit

Re: 66 burb

Looks like someone saved me from taking a picture.........................Look in the parts board for the sub-panel bumper for sale on e-bay...................you can see the dimples just inside the mounting holes for the bumper.............Hemmit

Re: 66 burb

There is a difference in the wheel wells. The Suburban's wheel wells are shorter in length-same as the shortbed fleetside. The longbed wheel wells are about 4 inches longer.
