How much would you pay for 292?

For a 292 six cylinder with over 110k miles on it that runs, what would you pay for it?

Re: How much would you pay for 292?

I have seen them "free for the taking" and over $500.00, so it depends on how motivated the seller is.

The 292 was, argueably, the most desired six in the 4-5-6 Chevy trucks.

Re: How much would you pay for 292?

ive heard the same too, a machinist told me theres a slight difference in the head from the 230s and the 250's. obviously not enough of a difference to those who sell these heads rebuilt. they all say they interchange just fine.

Re: How much would you pay for 292?

I seen one on CL here in Houston for 200.00 plus the 3 speed, guy pulled it and put a 350 set up. He just wanted out his garage. And was running when pulled, thats what all them say. Good luck..

Re: How much would you pay for 292?

The 292 head is taller than the 230/250 head and is not interchangeable.

Re: How much would you pay for 292?

I've spoken with the guy and he wants $500 dollars for it to include the 4 speed (granny) transmission that backs it up.

I've been looking here in the Ft Worth area and this is the best deal I can find............

davidh-ROFLMAO at your sig!!!!!

Back on topic- I would also try to go for the 5.3 combo. That's a good price. If you're stuck on the I6 though, there's nothing wrong with that either. Good luck!
