Stolen - 71 Stepside SF bay area
My 71 Chevy 1/2 ton stepside was stolen early this morning from in front of my house in Oakley, CA. If anyone spots it, please let me know.
Plate # is 3F40997 It has a mirrored Raider emblem plate on the front, and there is also a long crack in the windshield about 6 inches from the base starting at the drivers side, and going about 1/2 way across. Rudy Fierros Cell - (925) 200-1551 Home - (925) 625-0832 Or send me a note. Thanks, Rudy

Re: Stolen - 71 Stepside SF bay area
Thanks everyone - I've updated my original post with the plate number and some more details. I have a feeling I'll never see it again, but you never know.
It a real downer - I've owned the truck since 1984, and have put a lot of time and money into it. Rudy

Re: Stolen - 71 Stepside SF bay area
A reply to a craigslist post said they were pretty sure they saw the truck in Tracy at about 10:00 pm on Tracy Blvd. He didn't see the posting until Monday, or he would have followed the truck.
'I’m pretty sure I seen this truck in Tracy Sunday night…I was pulling out of the Chevron station and I can’t help but notice nice old chevy trucks….the guys driving it didn’t fit the bill of a classic truck owner…there were two guys in the cab….both Mexicans….it was around 10:00pm'

Tracy is close enough that I could buy that story.
If you want to go to Tracy this weekend & drive around, let me know. I'll even drive.

Re: Stolen - 71 Stepside SF bay area
Other than the truck maybe being spotted in Tracy, there hasn't been anything. I'm afraid my truck is long gone.
I've owned the truck since 1984, we bought it just a few months after we were married. I put a lot of time, and money into it, and it just makes me sick thinking it's either being torn apart, or some jackass is driving into the ground somewhere. Now I have the insurance company to deal with. :/

Re: Stolen - 71 Stepside SF bay area
It would have been nice if you had one of them locators in the truck that could tell you it's location. I can not think of what they are called. Sure hope you get you truck back and in good shape and those guys go streight to jail. My Daughter lives close to LA and when we go to visit it is strange to hear all those alarms being set when people get out of their cars and trucks but I can see why. We do not have much of that going on here. Good luck.

Re: Stolen - 71 Stepside SF bay area
Well, I received a call from the CHP Thursday that they had located my truck in Bay Point. I asked what condition it was in - the lady said - 'some engine parts stripped, mirrors, and stereo'. So, I'm thinking, 'this might turn out OK, afterall'.
Well. her comments, and what I actually found when I went to see the truck at the tow storage yard didn't exactly match. Summary of what I found: My newly redone seat using premium foam, and scroll upolstory from GMC pauls - gone, Grant leather wrapped steering wheel, cd player, Bostom acostics Rally series 6X9's, amplifier, door panels bent all to hell to get speakers out, mirrors, engine, trans (2 year old 700R4), radiator, Jacobs ignition, battery, all wiring in the engine compartment cut, springs removed from hood hinges, chevy emblem on grill, headlight trim, rims/tires, you get the idea. Some pics I took: http://www.flickr.com/photos/1003442...7601314228725/ They did leave everything pretty much in tact as far as the body goes. The wheels and tires were on it. I'm guessing they probably had a car trailer, or access to a tow truck. Took it to where they stripped the parts, then put the wheel and tires on so they could roll it off at the dump site.
