I painted mine black since it looks better than crappy 33 yr old paint.
If I were doing it up properly though...I'd go with body color. But I think mine will end up black so it'll be one and the same.
I voted black since that is what I have.

I said black also-only reason was for restoration purposes. IMO: if you're going to keep it 'relatively' stock then stay black-otherwise go color. It all comes down to what makes you satisfied! -Paul

I'm in the same boat your in. I'm at a point where it would be easy to paint my firewall, the engine is out, but painting the truck is down the road a ways. I'm leaning towards black on the firewall cause I don't know for sure what color the truck will be. It may be white and I don't think I would like a white firewall since I live on a dirt road.

i vote body colour cause that's how mine is. it depends on whether your truck is blown apart totally ready for a complete paint job or, say you've just pulled the engine. pick the easiest one and go!!

I went with body color but if your ready to pant the firewall and still not sure what color to do the truck then go with black, you can always change it later.

If you paint the firewall body color, people will think you know what you are doing & had it all planned out ahead. Mine are always black because I do the eng/trans first & never get to the color for about 10 more years...by then I have changed color choice many times.

Body color was stock on my Jimmy. I went with Black because I don't know my final color yet and I dont' want to show off my fire wall, just my engine.

pickupman- good idea about the thinking part of it, im realyl set on a color like your truck, maybe a bit darker, also jimmy that is another good point on the idea that the firewall can give or take away from the engine....this seems like such a tough desion, im starting to lean towards truck color though...

I voted black. I'm planning on doing the truck white ands I think it would look messy real quick if I did it body color. I hear 250 6s have a tendacy to leave their mark, I'd prefer it not to stand out as much.

I voted body color too. If you really want to stand out or be different, you might want to do the inner fenders and under hood body color too.

I also did the engine side of the radiator support too. I did the other side in semi gloss black because I didn't want to see the blue through the grill.

Here's mine:

Mine is black, but it will be Orange as soon as
I get the time. When showing off an engine worthy
of show (Not Mine...Yet.) It really makes it stand out.
