Summit rear disc conversion kit

Is the axle flange on the 1971-96 caprice/impala the same as the 12 bolt truck flange? I was looking at the summit catalog today and they have a rear disc brake conversion kit that has a 5x5 bolt pattern. The description says:

Disc Brake, Rear, 11.30 in. Diameter Rotors, 1-Piston Calipers, Parking Brake, Chevy, Caprice/Impala, Kit

The instructions also say its for a 10/12 bolt.

So I'm thinking unless the flange is different, this should work. It caught my eye because it is the least expensive kit I've seen to date at $479.00

Here is the link.

yes, I was JUST looking at those. Some of these kits are new. I have not seen prices so low for these kits. Going rate for a rear disc conversion kit until now seemed to be $500-$650, but now I am seeing some new ones come out. Its about time!

There are two on performanceonline.com, one is $419 and the other is $449. The more expensive one caught my eye because the ebrake is hidden under the rotor.

Justin, thanks, I will contact you.

Could you source cross drilled rotors to use with that kit? If so, how much more?

I need a e-brake to pass inspection in this lovely state of NY.

Shane, go easy on Justin. He is only on this board to help us guys out. I can positively say he would bend over backwards to assist us. All I'm saying is he didn't mean anything by that comment, I think it was just misinterpreted.

Ok, off soap box.

Does you kit come with calipers? Will this kit work with 15"x8" rallies?

I am pretty sure that those are front discs, I do not see any way to mount?

Re: Summit rear disc conversion kit

I did a search a few months ago when I was hunting disk brake pieces for the Dana 60 in my 71 GMC 3/4 ton and found this site which leads to a lot of others.

Re: Summit rear disc conversion kit

Anyone have any recommendation for a K10? I could not find any 6-lug conversions on any of the sites, with the emergency brake.

Thanks,
Mike

Re: Summit rear disc conversion kit

Wow, the kit I linked to in the first post is now $389(all summit brand products are on sale), by far the least expensive rear disc conversion kit ever put together. After all the comments in this post, my original question was never answered. Is the flange the same as a car? If not, I'm thinking it doesnt even matter. I could make a bracket to fit, its just a flat piece of steel. Any input?
