Anti-theft methods???
I have been noticing here that some of our trucks are becoming hot items on the theft market. Just thinking about what anti-theft system to put on my truck. I would like to get some feedback from you all, and see what you have, or are planning on using on your trucks, or...what would you recommend?

Re: Anti-theft methods???
I am going to hide a GPS unit under my dash, so that way I can log online and see where my truck is if someone steals it. Then go take it back. Lo jack.

Re: Anti-theft methods???
I put a switch in for my fuel pump, took the timer out of the glow plugs and wired it to a switch, put a switch that turns off the ignition switch, all next to each other.
They are the same style of switch that I used for the reverse lights (also next to the other ones). Of course they are labeled incorrectly |

Put a gun rack in there and a sticker that says driver carries no less than 20lbs of ammo

Re: Anti-theft methods???
I have a remote turn off for the entire electrical system. You're going to have to tow it if you want it.
http://www.watsons-streetworks.com/battery.html Plus I have a removable steering wheel. The removable steering wheel gets all of the second glances. Mick |

Re: Anti-theft methods???
I use "the club" steering wheel device. It can probly be removed by a thief but if they want it that bad it will take a minute or two. Someone stole my Honda Civic with the club, and starter disabling alarm so if they want it they will take it. I put the club on everywhere I park it.

Re: Anti-theft methods???
I used to have a 79 Chevy truck that you used to have to mash the dimmer switch to start it...the dimmer was the starter switch. Turn on the key mash the dimmer switch.

Re: Anti-theft methods???
We put a kill switch an actual on & off switch wired to the MSD and I have pointed it out to exactly where it is and some of friends still could not find it.
It is so simple yet so effective.

Re: Anti-theft methods???
Actually, in my '72 I have a GM EFI system with the VATS enabled. The only way to move it is with a tow truck. Now, in my A-12 Super Bee, I have the good '0l LoJack plus someone would need to get through the yard, past the gates and unlock the storage garage. Not too easy in and of itself since 3 more vehicles occupy the only driveway to the back of the house.

Re: Anti-theft methods???
im considering finding a rfid chip security system. I havent seen one specifically marketed for this purpose however. Basically the rfid chip will be transmitting, and when i get close enough to the car, it will allow me to use the startup and ignition features. All that will have to be done is to have the receiver box placed in the curcut that needs to be disabled. Doing this requires no daily effort to disable my security system, as it will automatically disable when i get close enough.
