Question tracking down cab water leaks

Am in the process of having front,rear weatherstrip redone again. In eliminating soures of water seepage how do I distinguish between water entering from the weatherstrip or trickling through the body from the drip rails. What areas need to be filled with seamsealer to keep interior of truck warm and dry?

There are 2 seams under the cowel. One is where your left foot would be and there is one on the pas side same place and the seam all the way across between the two. Check them.

would the same seam sealer be appropriate here also and what is the best way to work the sealer itself?

I have had several of these trucks and every time I have had a leak in the cab it was the drip rails. Just a small crack in the cauking can let in a lot of water. My 71 would pour inside and it looked like it was coming from the windshield weaterstrip but it was the drip rails. My 72 i have now, I resealed the drip rail when I painted it and I have all aftermarket weaterstripping installed with only soapy water to lube it. No sealer at all. And no leaks. Unless you have rust on the part of the cab that the weatherstrip seals on, sealer should not be needed. Inspect the driprails and suspect the smallest crack. GOOD LUCK

Just an idea..Get inside the cab and have some one with a water hose on a trickle go over the entire area a small section at a time to look for possible leaky spots...

You could get a spray bottle with soapy water in it and turn on the heater blower on high and spray in small areas this will find small leaks that plain water might not show. Make sure the doors and windows are shut. Might even tape up obvious rust holes such as cab corners etc. If so applicable.
