installing windshield

I am intalling my winshield with a new seal (with locking strip) Does anyone have any experience doing this? Do you have to use sealant? or does the locking strip do away with the need for that? Thanks

About all I used was lots of WD-40 to get the locking strip back in easier. I think I also used a wood clothes pin to help guide the locking strip back in. Its been about 3 years since I put one of these in.
Be careful on getting the windshield into the seal. The corners can crack pretty easy. I've never broke one (yet) but friends have.

I found that if you put the seal around the perimeter of the windshield , then wrap a small ( about 1/4" nylon) rope inside the flange of the seal. Leave the "loose" ends of the rope in the inside- center. As you pull the rope out of the seal , it will "pull" the flange over the steel lip of the opening. Make sure you have someone extra to help hold pressure on the outside of the glass.... AND ...like one ton crew cab says.... use LOTS of wd 40!

GOOD LUCK!!

I never done the proceedure myself, but have helped a friend do it the way "too many" explains and it works very well. String/Rope is the way to go.
