It's so sad this time of year

HA ha you thought I would have a sappy story didn't you??

Well.. I do.. I call it the day I parked my truck for winter...

The story always starts bad with the parking off the side of the house, but ends great with the beginning of spring...

I am sad though, I'll have to get a picture and post it for the memories..

Anyone else park there's for the winter?

Psh, they all live in TX and CA and never see precipitation or freezing temps so they get to drive there's ALL WINTER and sell rot free cabs for $300 bucks when they're 700 up here....

Grrr

Re: It's so sad this time of year

Wanna see SAD?? To a great degree, it's self-inflicted. But, you gotta start somewhere, right? Right now, when I look at it while it sits in the same place this pic was made, everything that is necessary to have it run and drive is inside the garage. No engine. No transmission. No steering/interior, etc. The HVAC stuff is gone off of the firewall and it is awaiting a major bit of surgery to replace the firewall...starting with a cut of the windshield posts and across the floor of the cab....rocker to rocker.

I don't even park my corvette in the winter and I live in the rust belt, I would never consider parking a truck in the winter. Maybe if it was a trailer queen that only got rubbed with a diaper.

Colorado here. Mine never sees the garage and is driven all winter. Putting the studded snows on next week as we go over Wolf Creek pass to spend Christmas in Pagosa Springs.

Heck, we got to see snow at Wolf Creek Pass on July 5th, 1995! Got pix of the two youngest kids standing in it. Old man at Monte Vista said it was only the 2nd time in his (then) 85 years that he'd seen snow there in July.

yea i store my 67 for the winter. they use soo much salt up here that it would start to rust after one winter. the sand on the back roads chip the paint away and the salt helps it rust quicker. it sucks!!!!! but thats why i have a k20 with a plow so i can still drive an old truck in the winter.

Re: It's so sad this time of year

no i live further north. we didn't get the ice storm like they did down southern NH. but we did get rain yesterday morning after the snow and that made everything a slushy mess. now it's an icy mess because everything froze.

Come on TwoFifty, who said we don't get snow down here in Southeast Texas. It might be a once in a lifetime event, but man it was beautiful:

I think we got 5inches here in Liberty. It was nice but I don't know if I could take it for 4 or 5 months in a row.

Re: It's so sad this time of year

I won't be driving either of my trucks much this winter because they both need work, so they will be in carports. I will be gathering parts, though.

I am doing some remodeling in the house that will keep me busy until spring.
