It's Alive//take Two
Well it finally happened, I got project LO-LYF some exaust on Friday and Fired it up yesterday! I ran 2.5" pipe up to Dynomax/Superturbos and dumped them out under the truck. Special Thanks to SLAMMED67 for recomending those Dynomax mufflers. I love the deep rumble of those bad boys!!
One step closer to the final objective------ Later Justin

Sweet! Yes, those Dynomax Super Turbos rock! Glad you like them! Hey, do yours dump straight down? That's how mine were installed, but I chopped them off at a 45 degree angle because they were were too loud..... sound bouncing between the ground and the bed floor. Sounds much better now.

Here is a close up of the engine,
BUXMAN66 dude whats w/ the purple frame horns? kidding!? Well they match the rest of the frame, the motor, the rear end, the A-Arms, the transmission, and a whole lot of other sh*t on the truck, that's what's up with them. Yea Slammed they cut mine off at 45's as well, there does seem to be quite a bit of sound bouncing around down there. I haven't got to drive it yet, one of my air lines wasn't tied up good enough and rested on the exaust pipe. As you can imagine, that line doesn't work any more. Got to get some new line before I can try out the air ride! Later

Nice Progress Justin!!
Got a question for ya .... what model power brake booster, master cylinder, and bracket are you running .... i am trying to find out what year i can use the smaller booster. I would like to also run the later-model master cylinder (plastic top). THANKS! |

Check out this link for the power booster and Master cylinder, They are the cheapest around I believe.
www.mcgaughysclassic.com They also have a lot of other cool stuff! If I am not mistaken, SLAMMED67 has a late model master cylinder on his ride. later

Justin, please tell me what kind of headers those are, and how's the clearance with the starter, tranny. lines, etc...
Thanks in advance! Devin

Sanderson ceramic coated shorty headers. They were pretty close to the starter so I got a high torque mini starter which I needed anyway. No other clearance problems what so ever!

Hey, I have those headers too Justin, but you didn't mention that!! LOL... just kidding.
Shane, if you aren't building a daily driver (or even if you are), you might consider going with a setup like mine.... late model master cylinder and no booster. The pedal effort isn't as bad as I thought it'd be. I think the braided stainless flex lines are a big help since they don't expand. Also, the MC is made of aluminum and the reservoir is plastic (NO RUST!!). If you really went crazy, you could polish it out...... hmmmm... there's an idea! If you want more info on mine, let me know.

Thanks Slammed ... what is your M/C made for originally?
My main concern is the fact that I am gonna be running 4 wheel disc brakes ... I am just wondering how NOT using a power brake booster would affect the proportioning valve that was designed to be used WITH a brake booster... hmmmm, looks like I got some more research to do. Thanks Again! |
