Tire Height
If I am running a 3:73 gear and a TH400 with a 4500 stall, how tall of a tire should I run? I am looking to buy a set, I drive a lot on the street, but would like to hit the track. Any opinions on what brand/type?

Re: Tire Height
There are a few things to consider.
Pros: Height helps to hook Height typically last longer as to go the same distance, you need less revolutions (Assuming the same gear ratio is used) Height brings freeway rpm down Cons: With out the right gear, your set up is not optimized and you might not be running to your full potential (ET) With out a lock up converter, too tall of a tire may keep you slipping the converter some and creating heat. But I'd think a 26" or a 28" would be ok.

Re: Tire Height
Gear tire combo for the track is relative to max RPM IMO. There is no perfect one stop gear/tire combo.
But yeah, make sure you have a decent trans cooler.

Re: Tire Height
I ran a mickey thompson sportsman pro that was 12.5x28 with a 3.73 in my old street truck with just a decent 350/350 and it worked well on and off the track.

Re: Tire Height
Allright thanks for the replies guys. It would really be nice to cruise the freeway at least semi-comfortably.
