Re: tach help!

I tied mine into the the light circuit. My fuse panel has a place on it that is tied to the lights. I just ran the light wire there and it comes on when my headlights do.

Re: tach help!

I am VERY lazy.
When I hook up after market stuff, I just tie the light & power wire together.
When the key is on, the light is on.

But that's just me & my .02.

NO!
The "power" wire is the one connected to the 12 V. switched power to the tach.

Re: tach help!

How many wires come out of the tach? There should be black for ground, red for power and white for the light. What El Jay is saying is that you can tie that red power wire and white light wire together to the power source (12V) and kill two birds with one stone. There should be another wire that goes to the tachometer spade on the distributor (it's green if IIRC) My dizzy is an HEI and I'm not exactly certain how the tach would hook up to a points dizzy if in fact you have one.

Re: tach help!

I believe there are four wires out of the tach. One to the switch
one to the coil or dist cap in case of HEI. one for the light and one for the ground.

I like the idea of tying the tach light into the instrument lights so that you can dim it if you want to.

I'm not sure of the color code though. I have two of those and one is missing the harness.
Bingo we have a winner!!!
