Suspension drop questions..

Hey guys, I'm fixing to get into dropping my truck 2/4 and I was wondering what all do I need to get the job done? I'm going to cut one coil off the front and use adjustible drop shackles in the back. What shocks will I need? What kind did ya'll use and how much did it set you back? Was there alot of work involved or was it just bolt in and go? What was the best and/or easiest way you found to do the job?
Anything ya'll can add will be greatly appreciated and will be rewarded with cookies.

Cutting a coil in the front should get you 2 inches, but I've never heard of an adjustable drop shackle. Personally, I would use drop spindles in the front and a flip kit in the rear. As far as shocks go, I'm using some plain ol 'hot rod shocks' from Speedway Motors. They don't ride too bad, and they are pretty cheap, $90 for all four if I remember. As far a being bolt in and go, yes, it should be, but there is always something that will fight you. And why you have it torn down, you might as well throw some new balljoints in there to. If you check out my build thread in my signature, I did a flip kit on mine. Different year truck, but same idea. Hope this helps.

The adjustible ones just have a hole for a 2" drop and a hole for 4". I'm gonna go shackles and springs just in case I want to bring it back to stock easily. Why can't I use stock shocks with the the drop? Will it cause binding or drivability problems?

Adjustable shackles are usually 1 or 2 inches, not 2 or 4.

If you want the ability to go "back to stock", then cutting coils is not the answer.

I would get 2-3" drop coils, and a 4" shackle amd hanger kit for the rear. Keep all the stock parts, and when you are ready to put it back to stock, everything will bolt back into place.

haha before im going through this air ride phase of mine i got all my lowering from cpp i got 21/2 in the fron and2 in the rear wiht cpp round arms cpp crosmember drop shocks, and drop spindle in the front.

I suggest what ever you do, think about what it will take to go lower. It's really rare that someone goes back to stock. It's quite common that guys decide they want more drop.

Hey guys i was wondering if yall could help me out as well. My bad for butt'n in but i posted a thread kinda about the same thing a couple days back and noone really got back to me. but i was wondering about a 4/6 or 5/7 drop and how much it would cost to do? and on wheels and tires how big i could go im thinking either 20's or 22's?
