Looks like a Scot-built truck to me.
Others will chime in I'm sure.

Re: Rare Truck for sale, Only one know to exist!
These trucks were built but a aftermarket did them. The railroad and as said forstery would have them.
Just like a customized van it's all warrinty through GM but a outside company did the work.

Re: Rare Truck for sale, Only one know to exist!
Maybe it is the only '68 known to exist with '72 sheet metal?

ONE OF A KIND! That is so funny...he should have tried to do some more research rather than asking himself.

Re: Rare Truck for sale, Only one know to exist!
I think they should have kept the 68 front end but it looks fine otherwise to me. I prefer a standard cab and even the new trucks look ugly to me crew cabed. But then I'm a trow back anyway.

You know I could almost swear that I have seen that truck on the board before. Atleast pics of it.

Re: Rare Truck for sale, Only one know to exist!
it's popped on a few times over the years.
This time behing sold, the seller can't even take his own photos, they are the same ones from a few years ago. I think I've seen it up for sale 3 times now... maybe 4 times, since '99 |

It doesn't really look like a Scott-Bilt.

Re: Rare Truck for sale, Only one know to exist!
It`s not a Scot-built.But,it was built by another body company.I`ve seen them elsewgere. They are rare and I`m sure the others are nothing like this one. It`s rare to find a 1/2t,although they were built.Someone may have swapped-in 1/2t stuff when it was modernized. It is an exceptional vehicle whether you like it or not.

Re: Rare Truck for sale, Only one know to exist!
I think it would be worth more if left the 68 front end on it.

It would have been worth more if it was left original

Re: Rare Truck for sale, Only one know to exist!
It is probably as rare as he says. No matter how many of these were built I bet it is the only one that has every trace of 1968 removed from it. Point it out if I am wrong.

Re: Rare Truck for sale, Only one know to exist!
I don't believe for a minute that it is a '68. I'm gonna guess that the title and the chassis/cab VIN's don't match. There's too much about it that says it isn't a '68, than anything that can confirm for me that it is. Wouldn't be the first time that somebody substituted titles, right?

Re: Rare Truck for sale, Only one know to exist!
I actually like the window/cab proportions on that one... I usually don't, but that one looks good.
Maybe the white paint, trim, and tint help blend it all together better?
