why do my windshield wipers sqeak
My windshield wipers squeak sooooo bad. It is driving me nuts.....it sounds like its a bushing. I can spray some lubricant on the linkage and it stops for a little while. If it is a bushing where can I buy them?

have you sprayed real good the towers where the wiper arms attach to? a very good glass cleaning also helps,i use BONAMI (its safe on glass) to deep clean the glass

Re: why do my windshield wipers sqeak
Mine are squeaky too, but it's the mechanism under the dash that's making all the noise. Is that where you lubed it? Mine would also stay quiet for a little while, and then make noise again later. I guess I will replace it eventually.

Re: why do my windshield wipers sqeak
with no lubrication to the towers it makes everything else work very hard //eliminate the excess resistance in the towers and lots of noises disappear

Re: why do my windshield wipers sqeak
I agree with all above. The linkage to the wipers from the motor will need to be lubed. I'd suggest something like LPS 2 or LPS 3. Something that is heavy enough to last awhile. There shouldn't be anything under the dash, that I know of, that should be squeaking....unless the wiper motor bearing(s) is/are bad.
As for the windshield, here's my suggestion. Before you begin, place a 0000 steel wool pad at the top of the windshield and let it go. Note how it slides down the glass. Then: 1. Clean the glass with window cleaner. 2. Get some 0000 steel wool and wipe/scrub the windshield glass. 3. Clean the glass again, with the window cleaner. 4. Wipe the windshield with Rain-X, then follow the instructions on wiping it off. 5. Apply a second coat of Rain-X. Now, take another pad of 0000 steel wool and let it slide down the windshield. See the difference? Don't use steel wool any coarser than 0000 (4-ought) or you will scratch the glass. If you old windshield is already scratched up, this may not be a biggee, but this procedure, when done on new glass, will really help you on rainy days, etc.
