Has anyone ever made a Homemade Flip Kit?

First off Merry Christmas. My question is has anyone ever made a flip kit for a 67-72 with rear leaf springs? If so what all is involved?

The best and cheapest way is to cut off the old perches and weld new ones on. Then all you need to buy are new perches.

Won't that put the rear end to far back??? On my bell tech flip kit, it has a hole in the flip saddle that has to be towards the front of the truck. Just wondering???

The offset hole is to correct pinion angle. Set ur PA and weld on.

my under standing is the off-set hole is to move the diff back. when you flip the axle to the top of the springs it moves it closer to the transmission, so to keep the slip joint from bottoming out during suspension travel, the diff is moved back 3/4" IIRC

to correct pinion angle, the u is uneven, or with the better kits, it is adjustable

i just did that to the 58 apache we are doing, they are right, center you axle side to sid, set your pinion angle and weld the perches on, easy.

I made a set for my blazer as well as zero rate to relocate the axle. Not difficult if you have access to the proper tools. They are not that expensive to buy either.

x2. The brackets not only correct pinion angle, they reset the wheel base as it changes when lowered that much.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

Remember that axle saddles are available at any trailer store, Northern Tool, or Tractor Supply MUCH cheaper than mail order specialty places too.

Hey Mike,
can you elaborate on the "zero-rate"
what is it, what does it do, and how did you make it?
