Hey Guys...

It has been a long time since I posted on my build but since so much has changed I figured I would start a new one. Also, since I got my 50, my dad also aquired his own 50. Since my Dad is the body and paint guy... I figured he could also use my shop to do his. So here we are with 2 50s in my shop...Father and son 50's.

Dads... Chopped 4", shaved, Mustang II frontend with air over leaf rear.
His will be 2-tone with ivory body and orange fenders. Mine will be all orange.

Yeah it is! I love your truck by the way. When I saw your build I was like wow...gonna be very similar except for color!

looks good, my build is similar. I have the same front end and core support, I am using 5.3/ 4l60 from a 2006 tahoe. where did you get your engine mounts? I also have the same brake setup and had trouble with trans clearance. any info or pics would be greatly appreciated.

Big Chevy, I changed the battery to the driver side to make room for my tranny cooler, and since I am using the CPP dropout it will work well.

50adrod, I am using the corvette style mounts. I dont have any problem with tranny clearence, but my motor is pretty far forward in order to keep the stock firewall. It is just about as far forward ass you can go and fit radiator hoses.

mine has a *****in products recessed firewall, I think I will need to swap to a F body oil pan that way I can move it more forward, did you make your mounts to the frame for the motor mounts? if you could can you get me the measurment from the center bolt of the mount to the back bolt of your core support? I am just trying to see where the mounts will locate in relation to my crossmember. thanks

Jason: I located my cooler just behind the drop-down box. I may have to move it if it doesn't get enough cool air there.

both trucks should be amazing rides. just curious, the trans cooler that you use on the ls1 truck, ive been looking at them as well but a couple that ive seen, say not for street use. whats ur imput on them? i know ur using them, but have you heard how good they work for cruising use?

Ok, didnt get much done over the holidays since the wife and I were finishing our upsatirs of our shop. Lots of sheetrock...mud...sanding...texturing... followed by lots of so at least we got that done.

I did get the air tank/controls/lines in and done. The interior got a coat of POR15 and the bottom got POR and some undercoating. We also got some more work done on the firewall and should be able to paint it this week. Primer goes on tonight. We are going to paint the firewall so we can bolt it up for the last time and be able to drive it/trailer it to the body shop.

The wiring for the motor is done and got the radiator in and she purrs like a kitten. Cant wait to drive that LS1!

And for the hunters out there I added a picture of my elk from this fall that gross scored 353 6/8"! Love to show that off!

Some more progress...

Got the firewall painted on mine. I know some will ask why we painted this first and not the whole cab. Well the actual booth and paint shop is about 20 miles away and we figured it would be easier to do the firewall in my shop, bolt it back on and have the truck driveable to trailer out to the shop and paint the rest.

Anyways, nice to see some color. I also am ordering my new seat from roddoors with a custom sand and orange leather, and since the seat takes 8 weeks, that is my goal for completion... but well see...

We got dads motor and trans in his frame so we can set his cab on and figure out trans tunnel. Then hell get working on finishing his cab.

I have all my steering parts as well so I should get my cab ack on this weekend and have a running/driving cab/frame!! Woohoo... 20 months to that point. Can someone say !!

Thanks! You have a beautiful truck BTW!! It is pretty cool doing projects like this with your dad. He just doesnt have as much motivation as I do.

The color is 2007 Nissan 350Z roadster orange. I like orange but it took me a long time to find the exact color of orange i wanted on this truck.

Looks like Texas Longhorn Burnt Orange to me!
