Trucks in the snow.

Just for fun. Trucks, snow, cold... Almost got up to zero today.
My 71 plow truck (and dog "benelli"), 69 cst, wifes 70 shorty, and our 66 f@rd.
Sounds like most of the US is cold right now...

Re: Trucks in the snow.

This was taken yesterday. Since then we got another 4" and we're slated to get 3-4 more inches tomorrow- for a total of about 16" of the frosty white stuff! I've never seen this much snow on the ground in Portland....ever and I've lived here my whole life. Yeah, it's quite chilly too....highs in the 20's lows in the teens.

Re: Trucks in the snow.

If it makes you feel any better it didn't get above zero here either today. -20F when I woke up. -13F when my bride and I went Christmas shopping at around 10am (took the day off). -1 to -2 while my oldest and I shopped for mom after school.

The photo below was Saturday - my first shot at plowing snow with the truck. I picked the plow, pump, and hoses up used this past fall. I was almost done and just cleaning up a bit when a hose blew. I got a new hose made today for $29. It was too freaking cold to install it today. Since it didn't snow again it can wait.

Re: Trucks in the snow.

I hear ya....it was 23* this morning when I ventured out to the shop to cut some trim for my cabinet job. Coldest for this date ever here.

So much for global warming today! According to MyCast weather it'll be 71 on Christmas Day....I'm likin' that idea!

I hate the cold...especially when there's wind involved. Had to wear five layers today to stay warm.

They make clothes that keep you warm. And,yes, you do adapt. There are millions of Latinos from Central America to prove it.It`s actually quite comfortable once all the moisture froze up(well, maybe not -20).I hate damp 40-50 degree weather. That`s the worst...YUK!!

I don`t have any this year, yet.Up where my mom lives...that`s another story. The western tip of Maryland is higher than WVA and PA and on the western side of the Eastern Continental Divide. So,they catch those NW lake effect snows.Generally 120" average.

Re: Trucks in the snow.

The older I get it seems the worse the cold weather bothers me.

It got down to 6 degrees a couple of nights ago here just above the "Bootheel" of Missouri and of course I had to be out in it a couple of times durning the night to take the dogs out and check for varmits.

The wind was gusting from the north up to 35 mph. It felt like the wind was cutting any exposed parts.

We had a small ice storm last week and had about 1/4 inch of ice on everything.

You all take care in the bad weather and be safe.

Danny

Re: Trucks in the snow.

This is our biggest snow storm in over 50 yrs, so we forget how to act!
These geniuses were out in it yesterday.
The guy on the pedal trike was on our major thoroughfare street, just off I-5. He had the bus & traffic backed up for blocks.
The teenager & his buddies figured out how to snowboard...down the road, hanging on to a rope!

***I'll try to post pics later.
