New to site

Well, I'm new to the site and just wanted to stop in and say hi. You'll probably be hearing from me quite a bit. I bought a '72 GMC lwb at the beginning of the year - and boy is she "perty". A bit of rust - sitting in black primer. But, she starts and runs. The day I bought it I put in a new battery and about 4-5 months in I had to replace the external voltage regulator. Other than that, I've done nothing to this truck. Now, I don't get my license back until April, so she's been parked in the garage at work since July. I go out and start her about once a week and occasionally drive her through the garage, but that's it since July. The good news, she starts every time - even in this cold. Now for the details - '72 according to the old owner's registration. Although I can't be sure. After the purchase, he said he couldn't locate the title. But, I have a friend who is a notary and title clerk. She says since I made him sign over his registration she can do all the paperwork to make me his power of attorney. I just walk in to the DMV with power of attorney and request lost title on his behalf and - BAM! We'll see, but she does it for a living. Also, there is no vin in the door panel, no plate in the glove box, either. It has a 350 w/ 305 heads, although I was told that wasn't the original, and a 4-speed Muncie with granny. Some idiot cut holes in the bottom of the door panel metal for speakers at some point. The seat is also stuck - as in it won't tilt forward to get to the gas tank/behind the seat. I will definately follow up with pics.

Re: New to site

Thanks for all the replies. And good news - The door plate/VIN is still there. Someone just painted it black when they sprayed the truck and I did not notice it before.
