1975 Chevy C50 Two Ton- need parts
Hello, I just bought a 1975 C50 two ton box truck with a 350- and manual 4 speed. I cannot move it to my house because the brake master cyllinder is not working. This is really an old school type with no booster and only one supply line(which scares me a little). I have been unsuccessful in finding a replacement for this let alone a rebuild kit. I would like to get another or upgrade my system. Can somebody help me to locate the parts source I need to at least move it to my house. No luck at dealer. Thank you, bobby

I would check with a school bus salvage yard. I think a lot of them were 50/60 series truck platforms.

Okay, thanks for the info. Any ideas where to look for a bus salvage yard?

Have you checked with a GM dealership ? You average parts store will not have medium duty parts.

Does this truck have a hydra booster or hydra vac under the step on the drivers side?If so its probably the place to start. Its a remote power brake booster.follow the brake line and see if you find one.

Re: 1975 Chevy C50 Two Ton- need parts
Thanks for the suggestions. I will have to look for this booster under the step that you speak of. The truck is about 45 miles away. I am going to try and get there today and remove the master cyllinder and see if it is rebuildable. peace, bobby

Re: 1975 Chevy C50 Two Ton- need parts
Just to let you know, be prepared for sticker shock on 2 ton trucks parts. If the hydroboost is bad, it will be expensive. Also, you will most likely need to replace the wheel cylinders if it is been sitting for awhile. Just look in the phone book for truck salvage. Buses are a good place to find parts for medium duty trucks as they generally had regular maintenance.

Re: 1975 Chevy C50 Two Ton- need parts
Another way is to go to a salvage yard and ask if they have any busses or ask who in the area is a truck salvage yard.
