Who likes chevy trucks and pontiacs?
I've noticed that a few members own pontiacs also. I've always loved gto's and chevy trucks. In fact a 67 gto and a 72 blazer are my two most favorite cars. Boy, am I lucky. To bad neither of them run!!!!!!!!! Atleast I'm only nineteen, I hope I can at least get them both running by the time I turn 25. lol. It's a sickness...

I used to have a 1980 Pontiac Grand Prix LJ that had a 4.9L Turbo 301 from an 80 Trans Am. It was just enough power and more than enough comfort. I should post some pics one of these days

well i like chevy trucks and pontiacs, BUT NOT TOGETHER! my dily driverahs a pontiac 350 in it, i hate it, but dont have any reason too. i am always lookng for a good deal on a late 80's formula firebird, found one last weekend for 1000 but it had swapped in 2.8 not running. i have a 400 sb pontiac block, heads, and intake if anyone wants it real cheap.

67cst, from what i've been told, not much is different. i know parts are more expensive though and mine is only 160 hp stock. people swearthat i can make that pontiacfast, but i thin it would be cheaper in the long run to build a smalblock chevy for mine

The pontiac 350 is basicly a big block, since the 350-455 are basicly the same.
Some (most) say its a waste of time to build up a pontiac 350 when you can drop all the same parts into a 400 and have more cubes(more power). Pontiacs are A LOT more $$$$$ to build then chevys. Mainly cuz its harder to find parts compaired to chevy. My stock pontiac 350 was rated at 265hp, I think 355ftps. That was with a 2 barrel carb. Now it has a toker manifold, holley 750cfm, big vavle heads, bored 40 over, hooker headers, flows, msd box, mallory distributor, oh and a cheater NOS kit. Should make car go fast, if it ever gets to the track. Sean-I would build the 400 up if you could find a set of 400 heads or 455 heads. I wouldnt want to run 350 heads on a 400 unless they are the 350ho heads. Machine work would run the same as a chevy, its just buying the parts and finding a good set of heads in your case. Just my 2 cents.

Pontiac 350 kinda suck in mho. The only ones that are worth building are the 350ho from the 68 & 69 firebird. you can make them run, but it's not worth the investment compared to the chev 350 or a pontiac 400/455.
seanh71 don't use the 350 heads I think the valves are to small on them. build the 400, It will bolt in place of the 350 you have and it makes really good power. I have two pontiac 400 one out of 68 catalina with 68,000 (for my gto for now) and another 400 to build, plus I have a 68 350ho(can't get to run right?) I have bare 6x heads if interested, I had them checked at a machine shop for cracks, but I'm not gonna use them...I want eheads!!!!!!!

jays68yak sounds like you got a pretty good setup on that 350. let me know how she runs when you get her to the track. nitrous...drool..

Can you get me the codes off the center exaust ports? Heads are very important to the pontiac engine! Alot of the 72cc heads with factory screw in studs are hard to find but can go with mid seventies heads and domed pistons on a 400/350. if you get me the numbers I can set up up! Stay away from heads off of 455's if you find them they have too many cc's lowest available on a 455 is 84 cc on the 70 gto 455 ho, #64's $$$! Great on a 455 but crap on a 400 and under! 350 ho heads #48's are a great head followed by 16,62,670,997,97,970 among d ports

It had a 350 ho out of a 68 or 69 firebird, I only bought the car for 600 bucks if those are #48 heads thats the best thing i've heard all day. What did the 68 ho have for heads?
