C40 or 60 pickup?

Has anybody put a C40 or 60 front cap on a 1/2 ton truck with fleet or step bed? Seems like I had a pic of one some time ago but cannot find it.
Or maybe photoshop one to see what it might look like with large diameter wheels and dropped. Am thinking about the newer Chevy "big trucks" with dually beds and crew cabs only a 67-72 version. Anyone already done one of these?

I don't recall what GM calls that big truck series now. Iiiiiit's different.
I refer back to these pics of the 72 crewcab posted a couple of weeks ago.
How would this look down on a 3/4 or 1 ton frame with a dually bed and large Alcoas maybe? The front bumper could be almost on the ground at ride height!

Sounds like a cool ride. I guess I'll look in my Truck Data Book and see if it shows any dimensions on the front of the chassis (compare the heavier chassis to the 1-ton) to see if the heavy-duty cab sheet metal is a go on the lighter-duty chassis....but you've already checked that out, right? I'm thinking core support/bumper area. Aren't there some differences in the front part of the cabs, comparing the area right at the front of the doors/door posts/fender mounting? I mean, doors don't/won't interchange, with they? I guess I am wondering if you would have to put the C40-60 cab on the one-ton chassis, or would this just be a swap-out of the front cap/bumper?

Could you just shorten the frame on that crew cab and drop a fleetside bed on there?

If you are going to go that route, just put a bed on the medium duty frame. I think the medium duty fenderwells might need to be trimmed on the piece that sticks down right in front of the door if used on a 2wd light chassis, might not be enough ground clearance.

It would be better because then you get increased payload and towing capabilities with the medium duty frame.

I agree with this. those big pickups they make nowadays aren't made on a 3/4 or 1 ton pickup frame, they are still on there original frames I believe.

I'd put the front clip on a K/30 with a bit of a lift, like Yukon Jacks friends truck.

Medium duties are built on straight rail frames and have a much wider track width combined with Hotchkis (beam/leaf) suspension.Look at the white truck and imagine how it wouldn`t work on a 10-30 frame.The cabs mount differently,too.The firewall is different and would need modified.With the right amount of desire,anything can be done.But why,when there`s an easier option that would give desired result?
Yukon Jack`s friend converted a K/20 to dual wheel,removed the pickup box,and went with a flatbed.Kinda the opposite of taking a large truck and making a pickup.
A medium duty clip won`t mount on a 10-30 cab.

Big wheels do not a medium duty make. that orange and white C30 is just that, a C30. Look like 19.5s perhaps

Hey Boog! The white Tonka-festooned rig looks more like what I think you would end up with, and it isn't quite what you said you were wanting to see. You're wanting to see it with an almost ground-scraping stance, right? According to specialK, there are fundamental differences in the mounting and configurations of the body style and the chassis you like. So, (in my opinion) the issue would be how to drop the heavier-duty chassis lower to the pavement to achieve the desired look.

Yeah Don. That Tonka truck is real close to the look just too darn high. I sure thought the cabs were all the same meaning the C40,60 front caps would bolt up to the C10,20,30 cabs. Guess not. What I also thought would work is mount the whole C40 cab and front end on a later model 1 ton dually frame, dropped with some of those Alcoa rims. I have seen a light blue crew/dually on these forums in the last year but it is a C10-20 slammed with a 67-68 front end. I don't have a pic saved of it.
I don't want to do one myself, just throwing the idea out there for someone with more time and money than me to see what they can make of it. I would be different!
