Finally done, well 98% anyway
Well, I been promising some pics of my ride and here are but 5 of about 40 pics of this job from start to finish. Pics don't do the paint job much justice so I'll tell you what it is 2 black base coats sanded between coats, 2 coats clear sanded between coats, 2 more coats of clear with heavy metalflake, 2 more clear coats sanded between, 1 coat of white perl and another coat of clear. I have to sand it so I can buff it out in the spring. Wheels are off of an 89 2500. All thats left besides buffing is to build the running boards and get them on and build a descent attachment for a Warn 4000 winch. 1984 K20 350M engine with 465,000 miles. Well, it's finally done!! Almost 2 years of work, but it was really worth the effort. Little stuff left to do is mount winch, wet sand & buff out and build belly pan\running boards. Body work takes lots and LOTS of beer!!!! God, Guts and Guns made America and God, Guts and Guns will preserve it! The worst thing you could do is get into my sights, but that don't matter, you'll never know it, cause you'll never hear the shot  Jim or Paladin whichever you choose.

Grinch: I need the running boards. Truck goes in harms way and I need the protection from underneath. Basicly it will be a frame made from
2" square stock 6' long and about 8' wide. It will have a belly pan of 3/16 steel or 3/8 aluminum roughly 6'X6' and the steps will be 1/4" aluminum dimond plate. At no place will they attach to sheetmetal. It has to be attached directly to the frame and support the weight of the whole truck should I get hung up on something. I got the warn winch I wanted today, just have to cut a 6" box beam down and mount & wire it up. I'll post some pics of that when I git-er-done. jim

I like it!!
So they won't really be running boards, more like rocker gaurds. When you said running boards I was thinking of fiberglass pieces from the 80's conversion vans!!  Beefier tires for sure!!

Softball, oh no, nothing like that at all. Rocker guards, yes, and floor pan and gas tanks and trans and transfer case guards, LOL. I get fatter tires on it after I wear out the two sets of the right size I have. I have to be careful though, I have a tendancy to take out side walls doing wood and going back to hunting camp. The fat tires get torn up quick. I have 4 leaves in the front and 14 in the back and it sits high, making the right size look real small. When the trailer is on it with 2 skids of concrete in it, she sits nice and rides real smooth & the tires look ok. 42 bags = 1 skid. 2 skids=6720LBS + 2000LB trailer. 1700LBS overweight. The whole rig looks sharp. jim

I do have a bunch of pictures. From start to finish and a description of the work done and a cost estimate of what I spent. Some parts were stock GM I bought 10 years ago but are no longer available so I used current prices, not what I actually paid. All the other parts were OEM from LMC or jap crap as a last resort. As I remember parts and stuff was about $14 or $15,000. I was shocked how fast it adds up, but it's the last vehicle I'll own & it's treated me real well over the last 22 years. It don't owe me nothin. My friends will drive my dead butt to the bone yard in it, LOL. Hope they got Chevy's, Colts and Winchesters in Heaven. If they don't, well I'll just have to crash the gates of hell, LOL jim
