350/700r4 hook up

Guys, I'm planning on buying a new 350 crate and a new700R4 to complete the drivetrain on my ride and was curious about hooking it up myself. Aside from needing to cut the drive shaft, how difficult is hooking the two up to each other and to the truck? I'm pretty mechaniclly inclined but not sure if i should leave this up to a professional. And if so what am i looking to spend on labor(ballpark) for someone to do this for me, assuming i walk in with the engine and tranny? Any advice would be much appreciated. THANKS!

TV cable adjustment is critical for proper trans operation. If you don't have stock carb/throttle body/cable/connections, that can be tricky. Otherwise, the install is fairly easy - the trans crossmember will have to move back a couple of inches. If you still have the old manual crossmember below the firewall, that may have to be cut out for clearance. I used floor cable-type shifter to avoid linkage issues.
As for paying for install, I'd get quotes - probably 10+ hours labor at whatever hourly rate they charge (then add 20-30% fudge factor).

One of our guys here (JusCuz) had this done @ a SoCal shop not long ago. I think it was for his kids rig. Shop was in Upland - I think. There is also http://www.bowtieoverdrives.com/index.shtml in Hesperia. This is where I plan to get the work done sometime next year,.

Steverino is right on moving the xmember back a few inches. The 700r4 bolts right into place except for the torque converter bolts which are metric... the tranny is all metric. I used the stock linkage, but I did have to relocate the brackets slightly for that as well. Bowtieoverdrives.com has some good conversion kits for the 700r4, TV cable bracketry for different carburetors.

I have a good guy that can help you out here. He is doing the motor in my suburban right now for 1750 installed. He rebuilt the motor using all new parts, bigger valves, an RV cam and will take out the old and install the new, break it in, drive it 100 miles to get everything right and tune it up nice and perfect.

No core charge, and he said he'll back his work in the event of a failure. Let me know if you want me to give him your info.

His dad did the transmission in my truck as well, 700r4 and it works flawlessly.
