Went to look at a C30 today - questions

He listed it as a 350, but there is no engine on the SPID, and the block is T0107CCC, which to me is a 307 from 1971 from 01/07/71

Would a 1 ton have a 307? The VIN is definitely a 69, so I am guessing non original engine. 4 speed gearbox, no real options on the SPID, no buckets, no AC, no radio, no cool guages..., nothing really.

Otherwise, neat truck - No bed, just frame, dually wheels, green, rough interior and some rot, but nothing unfixable that I could see. Had the dealer installed Brushguard original as well.

last on the road 4-5 years ago, Inspection and reg are from 2004/2005.

Didnt start while I was there (1 hour) but he called when I was 5 miles up the road saying he got it fired up... I didnt go back.. But now the engine block is making me have second thoughts about it.

Guy wanted 1600, could let go for 1400-1500 most likely.

307 IIRC was an option in 1 tons. Also, it doesnt always say the engine on the SPID, mine doesnt say.

I've been watching that truck on Austin Craigslist. He keeps relisting it for the 1600 and hasn't budged a cent on his asking price or posted pictures either.

I sure wish you had snapped some pics. Like you, I'm looking for a dually.

doubt a 71 307 was an option in 69 though

If I read the code right, that thing was on a powerglide at some point.

Yea, I had seen it forever too. The guy selling it is pretty flaky - an artist, selling all this old lady's husbands stuff for her. He said 1400 possibly for cash.. whatever. The cab is fair at best for this area, they "extended" the frame for a box that was on there that they removed to sell it, so thats some work + bumper right off.

I was interested to either make a ramp or flatbed, but this one might just be a flip and dump, honestly. Fix the ugly carpet and interior stuff up, hand make a wood bed, get it inspected, tuned, cleaned, and sell for 3500 or so.

Re: Went to look at a C30 today - questions

If one tons came with a 307(not sure if they did)it would be the CE3 serial number for a V8 2wd 1t.The motor would be standard and not listed on the SPID.I had a`70 C/30 with a 350 and it had the engine badge. Can`t say what was on the SPID anymore. But,it shouldn`t get a badge unless it was an option.Unless it got a badge anyway, just because it had a 350.

Re: Went to look at a C30 today - questions

I've been watching that truck as well. 157" wheel base right? I wound up buying an '86 3500 dual wheel truck. 4x4 with Dana 60 front, 454 and SM 465 with a gooseneck equipped flat bed with removeable rails. I paid $1800, so $1600 for the '69 seems WAY high IMO. I wouldn't pay more than $1000. Tops.

For those of you guys in Austin looking for a dually, there is one right when you go into Lampassas, right hand side before the Yum! factory. It's a 71 or 72 which I think has had the motor pulled. It has a for sale sign in the window and I've been eyeballing it for two or three years now. I was thinking of stopping and offering $400 for it before I got the '86.

If you don`t want to offend then don`t say anything offensive. An icon here and a comment there about a whacked comment is one thing, but we don`t need to make comments beyond that, right?

Re: Went to look at a C30 today - questions

I don't know a lot about the values of these trucks but I got my 67 dually with a flatbed for $975. It's got a 350 with a TH400. I haven't looked to get the casting numbers or anything but other than a few parts being rusted under the cab and the rocker area on the driverside needing patched up a little the truck is fine. It needs painted of course. It runs and drives fine too. I too think that's too high but that's just my input.
