Another Suburban problem

I'm getting about 9 miles per gallon. It has 350 with 350 auto. Edlebrock 600 with electric choke.

Hi, well your doing about as good as I'm doing. I have the same engine trans-combo. There was thread on here about the Elebrock carbs needing only 5.5 lbs. fuel pressure. I believe my stock pump puts out about 9 lbs., so I'm going to try a holley fuel regulator. Did you upgrade to HEI? Believe me that really helped out with mine ( about 12 mpg highway). I'll talk to you latter, Tom.

My burb does pretty much the same thing. When I got it many years ago, it did 16 mpg with the factory carb. It had a worn out throttle shaft so the idle varied 500+- rpm. I changed out the carb and it got 10 mpg. 2 years ago I rebuilt the engine, transmission, and had my mechanic rebuild the carb. On it's first long trip I averaged 14mpg. So I am on the right track.

I have the Edelbrock 1406 carb on my winter beater and I get 10mpg out of it too.

Either way, making a 2-3 ton brick move down the road and getting good gas milage are not usually synonomous.
