Question True Duals - How's yours Exit?

I'm thinking of doing a true dual setup... I might like to exit before the rear wheels..nothing fancy, something low-key. How's everyone running theirs?

Re: True Duals - How's yours Exit?

I dont like to see exhaust, so mine runs up over the axle tucking real high for clearance then both turn down at the notches in the corner of the frame at the frame cross brace right after the rearend. Looks real clean and almost like it was made to do that... also depends on how loud you want it... If you turn down right after the mufflers before the rearend it will be far louder both exhaust and cab interior noise than if you run pipe all the way to the rear of the box... What mufflers were you thinkin about? I have 2 1/2 flowmaster 50 series, wish i would have gone with a 40 series but, at the time i was thinkin hey i dont need loud mufflers, cause before my cats i have some QTP electric exhaust cut outs... but the factory roller cam i have is to smoothe and i think i could have gotten a bit more deep lopey sound out of a 40 series with the cut outs closed...

I dont have pics but let me know if you want to see what the whole thing looks like!

My son's k5 exits right infront of the rear tires. My daughters k20 exits out the back right outside of the receiver hitch.

Re: True Duals - How's yours Exit?

90 degree bends directly behind rear tires. I'm not old (no pun intended haha) but I like a quiet, comfy cab. The dynomax turbos I have you can barely hear inside the cab unless you really mash the pedal. Driving next to my truck, while someone else was driving it, the exhaust sounded excellent.... for everyone else on the road to hear!

Re: True Duals - How's yours Exit?

Glass packs to turn downs halfway between the front of the bed and the axle. You're right. It's not fancy. It's a little noisy. But it's just something I patched together while waiting for my old headers to rust through.

I pan to get a decent exhaust. (CaptKaos has a good deal.)

Re: True Duals - How's yours Exit?

Turn downs just before rear axle. If I could do it over again I would have them out the side before the rear tires. Turn downs kick up to much dust. IMHO. Flow Master super 40's

Yo! Shorty headers to 2.5" duals with "H" pipe and turbos, straight out the back and chrome tipped:

Plenty loud!
(Sorry about the spots where the cows chewed the paint off the tailgate!)

Damn,...sounds like Jim could be older than me!
I'm not sure, 'cause I can't remember that far back,...
Todd.

I feel old . Does that count ? On the other hand , at least your CRS hasnt turned into full blown CRAFT . Once you get there , its over !

As to the exhaust , I usually run mine like Boatpullers truck , only with more kickdown , but the black truck exits straight out the back . I didnt put the exhaust on it and cant bring myself to change a perfectly good exhaust .

Mine dump right after the mufflers. I love the sound of mine, but I like it loud.
