Re: from long to short!
Keep us updated with plenty of pics. I intend to cut a bed down if I can't find a decent short bed local. Nice work.

Re: from long to short!
Jmedero really the only thing hard about cutting the bed was making sure the lines were straight. the back half needs 8 inch taken out while the front needs 12". then be sure to line the body lines up and start tacking away. |

Re: from long to short!
the frame was a bit harder I must admit, because i left the springs on and it raised the back half of the frame up but a jack took care of it. I welded it together, but still need to reinforce and box the frame. here is what it looks like now.

Re: from long to short!
I remember seeing that done on trucks. They put a z cut in the frame just behind the cross member. I thought it was pretty cool when they did it.

Re: from long to short!
to answer a few questions I do not really know what Im going to do about a bed floor. the whole shortening took two days, but I still have to do more welding on the frame when I finish that Ill post more pics. I also need to find a shorter driveline.
thanks for all the encouragement. |

Re: from long to short!
Nice work. Looks like leaving the bed on the frame held it well. I probably woulda pulled it off and had vibrating all over trying to cut it .
So much for 'crumple zones'!!!!

Re: from long to short!
thanks protrash64, and shortbed70, 62 short step for the compliments, I did use a sawzall for the finer cuts where the cut of wheel could not reach.
