Cool Floor Shifters

Does anyone have pictures of there Floor Shifters ...I have read some threads about people put in B&M megashifters in 1970 C10. If you have put one in, how did you like it and how did it hold up? And might you have a picture or a web site I could go to and see the product.

Thanks,
-Michael

There is a Hurst Promatic 2 in my 69. It was installed by the previous owner. He fabricated a mount for it. This winter I plan to make a console type box to go around the base so it won't look so awkward. As far as the shifter itself goes, I love it. Compared to the column shift in my other truck, this is just so much better. I especially like the fact that I can't screw up shifts.

And yes, for any of you who may be wondering, it is getting carpet this winter.

Here's mine B&M truck Megashifter. Thr truck version is just a little taller so you don't have to bend over to reach the stick. I love it, no more missed shifts. Drop it in low 1 and bang the gears.

NSANE68,
Yours looks more vertical than mine. I also have a 350 turbo tranny.

Megashifter review

Michael.

If you want pictures of mine just look at 70c10's link, mine's the purple one about 3/5 the ay down the page.
It wasn't too bad to install (no harder than installing speakers in our trucks, say) and as far as the shifter itself has held up well.
So far I only have two problems with it.

1) The shift indicator was poorly designed and as such stays in the park position no matter what gear is selected. Now, I'm familiar enough with the truck (and the engagement is positive enough) to know when I'm in drive, neutral and resverse. But I do know it's aggravating.
Supposedly this has something to do with climate and abuse. I got lots of the former but not much of the latter.

2) The rubber boots starts cracking and tearing in about 6 months. Once again this has something to do with climate.

But positives against negatives, there's no way on earth I'd go back to the column. And I'd recommend the B&M to anyone not using it for serious racing.

I asked Santa for one. Hope he does the right thing. How big of a hole do you have to cut in the floor ? Are there any adjustments or different settings say, for a 700r4 -vs- th350 ?

I have the same 2 probs as deep purple. You just need a hole big enough for the cable to slip thru. I have 4 bolts holding it down.

I just bought a Hammer off of eBay, it came with all the guts to swap it from a three- to four-speed automatic.

I ran a B&M in another truck I had *coughFordcough* and I had the same problems with the gear indicator and rubber boot. I ended up using a leather boot and it never wore out.

If you are looking for a cheapie, I've got a B&M Quicksilver for sale. $50 plus shipping and here are some pics. Has a console from a Starshifter that could be rigged but has both the round Quicksilver handle and a T handle from a Megashifter.
