Re: New Here
Welcome aboard. Check your ball joints to make sure there isn't any fitment problems. The ball joints changed somewhere along the line.

Re: New Here
You will need to swap your upper and lower ball joints for the later model ones. The ball joints will fit the arms perfectly, they just have different tapers for the newer spindles.
I did this on my 64 so ask if you have any more questions.

Re: New Here
Welcome from the hoosier state.....................You will also have to change the tie rod ends too....................I did that swap on my 65 burb and it worked real well...............If you want to be safe you would change the ball joints and tie rod ends any way............I used spindles from a 71 gmc and also used the rear end out of it too...................Back when I changed mine I wanted to get rid of the 6 lug and go to 5 lug because custom wheels were easier to find and cheaper too............good luck with your build and we need pictures here........................I beat somebody to the picture thing..............Hemmit

Re: New Here
I'm not an expert on the 60-66's but on my 70 when I put later model disk spindles I had to trim the steering stop on the pass. side about a half inch or so.

Re: New Here
Using photobucket makes your life a lot easier, plus there is no size rstrictions and your pics don't lose quality.
Click on my signature and check it out... mouse over one of my pics and you'll notice a drop down box appears, copy (just left clicking on the code usually copies it) and paste the fourth line (IMG Code) directly into your message.... that's how you post a pic with photobucket. It's completely free too. Last edited by 19GMC63; 01-06-2009 at 05:59 PM. |
