Emblems
Hi guys,
I traded for my 71 GMC 3500 Custom Camper "Longhorn" 133 inch wheelbase (402 TH400) a few months ago and the previous owner removed everything but the fender GMC Emblems that have been painted over. Does anyone have a truck that is similar and can post pics of what the emblem package looks like? I know this truck is rare but someone has to have one somewhere. I have a few pics of my project in my sig, including the SPID. Any help would be appreciated, Dan

Re: Emblems
G M C went on the froont of the hood, the ones on the fenders would just say 3500 in the bottom 'window' since there's no trim level package listed, and some of the GMC 8.5 ft fleet sides had custom camper script on the top of the doors, others did not. It's all part of the coinfusion of the gmc longhorn truck.
No engine displacement badge, no longhorn badges were installed on GMC trucks though. |

Re: Emblems
Looking at the SPID it appears to be a base model with nice options. No Custom Sport Truck/Cheyenne/Super or Sierra/Grande/Custom Comfort & Convenience(Super Custom) indicated.A base model would say V-eight,but I`ve seen CustomCamper badges.Even though yours is a known as a Custom Camper, the GMC version of a Longhorn, the truck doesn`t have the Custom Camper option listed. So,it wouldn`t have that on the badge. It`s confusing when the scripts were used and if all 133" GMC pickups had them. They really should have come up with a name for this truck that wasn`t already used for something else at the same time.

Re: Emblems
Thanks Longhorn, WB from your trip.
Since the GMC "Longhorns" seem to be very rare, we maybe ought to come up with a name of our own, since they didn't do it back then. What do you guys think? How many of these are actually left? Dan

Re: Emblems
I think if your truck had the Custom Camper option(available on 127",133" and Cab`n`Chassis in any trim level)it could have had a badge that said Custom Camper in the fender badge.
