Valve covers sandblasted ?

I have some valve covers off my old motor that I want to repaint. I pressure washed them and removed the grease for the most part. Is it safer to use a wire wheel, or is ok to sandblast ? Also my air cleaner. I figure that would be ok to be blasted ? I imagine some high temp paint for the valve covers ? Is there any good stuff in a can ? Thanks

Re: Valve covers sandblasted ?

Make sure your seal area on the valve covers are strait and flat then go ahead and sandblast them inside and out. After sandblasting make sure all the sand is removed from the vent baffles by flushing them out then clean outside with paint prep and paint the outside with engine paint.

I would use Dupli-Color Engine Enamel Ceramic for paint.

Same thing for your air cleaner except you could paint the inside if so desired.

Re: Valve covers sandblasted ?

Sounds like a plan to me. I will probly use them as ornaments in my garage, but I would also like to be able to use them if needed without the paint coming off
