Need Traction Advice
i just got a 67 swb from a buddy of mine, originally equipped w/ a 283 tied to a 3 speed manual. the plans now are for a blown big block. mainly a street machine but will see some track time as well. i was wondering what all suspension upgrades can i do to help the truck hook up other than drag springs and shocks

Re: Need Traction Advice
multilink rear setup with coilovers or bags for adjustable ride height.

Re: Need Traction Advice
Reinforce kit for the trailing arms or aftermarket heavier ones, the stockers just flex too much. Set up somthing to limit travel of front suspension, like a chain that will stop the lower contol arms from dropping all the way and get the weight to transfer. Somone on here told me getting the front of the trailing arms down may help too, maybe make some brakets that bolt into the stock braket location that have a few sets of hoes for adjustment. I'm just throwing out some ideas, I'm no pro and still trying to get my truck to leave good.

Re: Need Traction Advice
Check out djracer in the Racing section here. He runs a BBC in a 67 with the stock trailing arms and coilovers. I think he runs low 9's or high 8's...

Re: Need Traction Advice
I would stick with the stock trailing arms, reinforce them and buy some adjustable coilovers. Also loosen up the front end, don't just focus on the rear.

Re: Need Traction Advice
so i'm guessing that the rear of the truck squats pretty good. i was originally going to use drag shocks all the way around. 90/10-50/50 after lowering the truck a good bit. how would i go about reinforcing the trailing arms w/o any regrets

Re: Need Traction Advice
Here is a good write up on an adjustable version of the trailing arms made at home:
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=321100 Here is a link to djracer's build for his truck. On page 3 that is a picture that you can see the stock arms in. He may have only welded the seam on the top and bottom, can't really tell in the pics. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=151718 For reinforcement, I would weld the seams top and bottom or even weld plates to the top and bottom for the whole length of the arm.
