No blue ones for 67-68.... You'll have to paint it.

Yup, I painted mine medium metallic blue to match my truck. Just tape it off, scuff it, spray it, let it dry, then clear it. I used spray can paint and clear. I hated the reddish/orange bowtie, I'd only want one on a red/orange truck.

Re: 67-68 blue bowtie emblem

I`d like to take the blue plastic and try to make it fit the 67/68 bowtie.

I think you would have to heat it to flatten it out some...

Re: 67-68 blue bowtie emblem

I thought the same thing, maybe buy a 69-70 bowtie and see if I couldn't swap some color out. I am surprised that this is not produced by an aftermarket company out there somewhere. If a guy could figure out how to do it well, he could probably make a few bucks selling them...

Pretty close to the color I have planned for my 67. I want GM Arrival Blue. That blue bowtie looks great on there colormatched.

I was also looking into this lately, and all I have found are red/orange bowties for the 67/68 trucks. So my only option seems to be painting it. BUT then I got thinking, I wonder if the bowties off any other models would work? I have the old emblem off my 70 Chevelle. It was a chrome surround, with a clear lens and chrome backing, which I think would go well with that color choice if it would fit. Its sitting on my desk, but I am 150 mi from my truck for a couple weeks, so I can't try it, but I will post up if it will fit when I get home.

Looks like this:

or this 69 Chevelle emblem

Re: 67-68 blue bowtie emblem

Thanks

The 67/68 emblem is "fat" on the bottom and "skinny" on the top to fit over the differences in the grill/loop trim.

Im with you guys also. I haven't done it yet but I plan on painting my 67 bowtie blue. The red/orange just doesn't look right to me.

Hmm, it was just a thought since I had it lying around. I might still look into if I am able to swap the glass background from the Chevelle bowtie to the C10 one.

im not sure if they all do it but the 72 one i just got has tabs on the back so you can pull the insert out and paint it, as long as you dont break the tabs

The one off my 70 Chevelle is the same way. I'm going to see if it is the same size as the one in my 67 c10 and see if they will swap out.
