5.3L For Sale - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I have a 5.3L out of a 2001 or 2 chevy truck. I got it to put in my truck but due to some current circumstances I am not going to be able to do it for quite awhile. The engine is sitting in our shed at work and is really in the way. I have no idea how many miles it has and I have never heard it run. I did purchase the engine compartment wiring harness as well as the ECM for it. I forgot my camera battery today so I will take and post pics tomorrow. I would like to get $200 out of it. The plastic upper intake does have a hole in it from whoever had it before knocking the top cover off (again I will post pics tomorrow). Just wanted to throw this up to see if there is any interest. It would be available for local pick-up only. SOLD

Here's the pics...The second one shows the hole in the intake manifold. The oil level sensor in the oil pan is broken as well but no damage to the oil pan. Again, I have never heard it run nor do I know the mileage, that is why I am asking only $500. The wiring harness and computer are in the attic, they are used and I can't guarantee the computer to be good, but it is from a salvage yard we use at work regularly so if there is a problem within a reasonable amount of time I can take care of it.

Also, all of the exhaust manifold studs are broken off in the right head. The left are okay, we have just borrowed a couple because the break often.

No to either. The only thing additional from what you see is a complete engine/trans wiring harness (does not have the fuse block) and the computer.

Can you wrench the pullies to see if the motor spins freely? Are you willing to ship? How long has the motor been sitting? Is the wiring harness 100% complete?

I have spun the motor and it feels good. It still has the spark plugs in it and, when turning, feels tight. The wiring harness is complete, I will get some pics of it if I can get Kyle to move his 67 so I can get into the attic and get it. Again, the harness is the engine and trans only. I have had the motor since last July and I think it was pulled by an ex-employee at work about 6 months before that from his truck that was wrecked in the back end. To my knowledge it ran when he pulled it. He got fired and never came to get it so I acquired it. The engine has been inside the whole time, never left in the elements. I would rather not ship due to the size and I really don't have time to crate it and ship it. I would also prefer local pick-up just so you can see it in person prior to final sale. It would be different if I had heard it run and knew 100% that everything was good. Before I put it in, I was going to tear it all down and have my machinist go through it. It is very clean though so I am sure it is solid, but just not 100%. Just want to make sure that is clear. Even still, $500 bucks is a heck of a deal. The wiring harness and computer cost me $150 used.
