Installed LED dash lights today

Well i finally got around to installing my led lights today, i am very disappointed..well sorta, i ordered from to diff. companies, the lights i put in my a/c panel look awesome! But the ones i put in my gauges are soo dim, my stock bulb kick there butt. I took the cluster out and all the lights are working, what companies are you guys using for the dash light? I got mine from keyrazy leds on ebay and there horrible. Im gonna try to get pictures up as soon as i get my camera figured out

Re: Installed LED dash lights today

I used these...same model from the same seller.

LEDs on Ebay

5 LEDs spread out on the bulb - works really well. I don't have pix.

You only need 4 LED bulbs to illuminate the cluster - the rest are for turn signals, brake problem light, etc.

BYRD builds the best tach dashes (white face) I have seen. He has tested a lot of LEDs. Ask him what he has found to be best.

Try turning your flash off and just get the picture of the lights on. Works for me when I just want to take pictures of lights at night.

Re: Installed LED dash lights today

I made the mistake of instaling purple bulbs in mine. Doesnt work even with the light green background painted white. When I get involved with it again im just going to buy mooneye guages for it a totaly redo the cluster.

Your camera should have a setting, you have to hold it very still, low down the shutter speed or modern equivalent.

Re: Installed LED dash lights today

I used some LED's from ebay and they work great on my aftermarket gauges but the factory gauges aren't very bright at all. I think it has something to do with the way the stock gauges are and the position of the lights...

Re: Installed LED dash lights today

I guess I don't get it. What is the advantage of the LED in your dash? My regular incandescent bulbs light up just fine and look good. What is the advantage?

Re: Installed LED dash lights today

LED's are brighter(well not in my case lol), draw less power, last forever, and you can get them in almost any color. My stock bulbs are just a touch to dim for me, plus i wanted everything green to match the radio

Re: Installed LED dash lights today

I have 4 diode LED (blue) ones in the inst panel on the longhorn. With the white faced guages, and the inside of the panel painted white (over the funky green) they are a tad too bright for me.
Mine are Roadmaster p/n 1962b
They have them in red, amber, blue and white.... the letter at the end of the p/n is for color.
If you install an LED and it doesn't work, flip it around. LEDs have a positive and negitive contact, that can not be swapped unlike a regular incandesent bult.

My burb has the white face, with the tin done in white too, biut i just have white 194 bulbs, and I find them to be way too bright on a dark road.
