Just out of curiosity, how hard would it be to install an air suspension system such as this on a squarebody c-10?

How much welding would be required?

Could someone such as myself with minimal welding skills pull it off?

If i was to try it, should i just go for it, or save a little more and have it installed?

You can install a basic air bag set-up with no welding. The front airbag bolts in with a kit available from ***************** for $150 until the end of the month. The rear can be done a couple diffenent ways but the easiest would be using a flip kit and mono leafing it and using a bolt on helper bag for adjustment. You'll need some sort of air management also but that's all bolt in as well. Let me know if you have anymore questions

They use 'em in 18 wheelers and I'll tell ya, the Freightliner Century I drove actually rode better than my pickup!! It even had 2 bags for the cab to ride on. I wouldn't do it to mine, but thats just me. jim

Now to answer you original question about the complexity of installing an air suspension system. Please go to our suspension forum and spend some time researching there. You will find a TON of useful information that will allow you to make a decision on your capability to perform the work involved.

It really depends on how skilled you are, what tools you have available, and your desire to perform the work yourself. Pretty much everything is bolt in these days, but it will require cutting the frame for a C-notch, drilling holes in your frame for airlines. Mounting brackets, wiring, etc.

lol i had no idea there was even a suspension thread in here.

I consider myseld decent with a cutting torch, but that's all i know how to use (for now).

Ditto on that company. I was lucky that I didn't lose too much$$ from them. They must just sell/steal from you one time. No repeat customers.
As far as cutting the C notch, I have heard that it is better to use a sawzall than a torch because the heat from the torch will weaken (anneal) the frame rails.

Little stuff left to do is mount winch, wet sand & buff out and build belly pan\running boards. Body work takes lots and LOTS of beer!!!! God, Guts and Guns made America and God, Guts and Guns will preserve it! The worst thing you could do is get into my sights, but that don't matter, you'll never know it, cause you'll never hear the shotJim or Paladin whichever you choose.
