Longhorn Campers???

Are there any Longhorn size campers still out there? Were there multiple manufacturers of them? Does anyone have any information on this?

Thanks!

Dan

Re: Longhorn Campers???

Yes,they were made for Longhorns back in the day and maybe some years later. You`d have to find an old one or go with custom made.

Re: Longhorn Campers???

Definitely looking for vintage campers that are still around. I have a pretty nice one from about 1974, but it looks a little silly in my longhorn with that 6 inch gap at the cab.

Re: Longhorn Campers???

I`ve wondered about modifying a standard size by taking 6-7" out o the camper where it meets the tailights so it can slide forward.

Re: Longhorn Campers???

I have the sanitary sewage tank just behind mine, don't have a lot of room for modification...

I did have one of those skinny toolboxes but the handles were on the back and you couldn't get it open with the camper.

Re: Longhorn Campers???

I guess my plan won`t work on yours. The gap would bug me,too.I guess I don`t need to tell you to keep your eyes peeled. Why not post a WTB in some area Craigslists? There sure were alot of campers bought in your area.I had an 8` camper truck.I sure do miss her.

Re: Longhorn Campers???

I currently own two old campers. One is a Mitchel, made here in Colorado, it's the one in the picture on my 83 Dually. The recent one, with the bathroom, is from guy down the street who's wife wanted it out of his yard and he gave it to me for free. He said he had many years of good use out of it and didn't need any money for it.

I see campers all the time on Craigs list, but never anything for a longhorn. I hope I can find one, it would be cool.

Dan

Re: Longhorn Campers???

Maybe someone would come out of the woodwork if you posted a "wanted to buy" ad.Nice rig.I wanted a crewcab when my kids were young and at home.Mine was a Huntsman 10',no bath.
I hope you find one.

I have thought about building one, too.I went to buy replacement material to repair a corner of mine.I had to go through an RV dealer and man that stuff was crazy high priced.I`d have to find a more direct source.I`m saving this website.

If I do, I'm going corrugated steel for the roof. I'm tired of fixing leaks. I think you can use house siding too if it's a decent look. I don't know maybe mine will look all redneck!!
