Stock 3 speed relocated to the floor. Shifting is handled by a self built 37" shifter with my friend "Rat Fink" on top.

Re: Post your Manual Squarebodies

My 74 GMC is a manual, sadly its on the tree and doesn't run. But once it is up and running and turned into a short bed, I hope to have the shifter on the floor and with any luck it will be attached to a 5 or 6spd.

Nope, it's my daily driver and the camaro is my track toy. Based on my well calibrated butt-o-meter, I think it would probably do a low 14 or high 13 if it could hook (unlikely w/out slicks). If I nail it any slower than 20mph it's a smoke show. One of these days I'll take it out just to see. I've embarrassed a couple newer mustang gt's around town though, the look on their face after a 25yr old brick on wheels smokes 'em is priceless.

Here's mine, it's got a saginaw 4spd. The manual is so much better than my old 86 with the th350, but i wish it had another gear or two.

Re: Post your Manual Squarebodies

Thanks. I have been researching a 5 or 6 speed swap. I wont be doing anything until I get it back to the states. Where have you been looking at the TKO600s?

Here's mine (an old pic midway through paint project before being detailed--hence the semi-dingy look).

Re: Post your Manual Squarebodies

Sweet Keep em coming. My idea for this post came from an 85 squarebody that I kept seeing on ebay from the pennsylvania area. It was a manual SWB with a 454. That truck had to have been a blast to drive.. I imagine you guys have alot of fun too.

Re: Post your Manual Squarebodies

I haven't got any pictures of either truck, but my 1986 GMC K15 has a 6.2L diesel / NV3500 5 speed manual transmission combo in it and my 1980 GMC K25 has a turbocharged 6.2L diesel / NV4500 5 speed manual transmission combo in it.

The NV3500 is fantastic, I love the gearing on the thing, suits the diesel very well. The NV4500 drives just like the SM465 with an overdrive gear. Not quite suited to the diesel's powerband of 1800 - 3000 rpm, but is a bullet proof transmission.

Re: Post your Manual Squarebodies

All my girls are original sticks. My '80 has a 4-speed with granny low hooked between a crate 350 and NP205 T-case. My '60 has the original Muncie M-318 3 on the tree and my Nova (you can see her peeking out of the side under the cover) has the factory saginaw 4-speed.

I still have to clean up the interior yet...

That is badass! Someday I hope to be bangin' gears with a TKO behind my small block. I love it.

Converted it to a manual 11 years ago. The Tach is mounted to the old automatic shifter boss on the column.

Any info on the nv3500 swap i have an 82' 6.2 i haven't decided if i am keeping or selling but i can say part of the reason i wouldn't mind it going is the 700r4 if it was a 5spd it would stay.
