Saturday pics (1-10) This n that and WIW

Hey guys! I woke up this morning thinking I would have nothing whatsoever to share this week. I pondered and piddled and dug deep to see if I could find something for your entertainment!

Scanned this a while back...don't think I've shared it.

What happens when you use fescue instead of alfalfa on your chia.

Also had to run out to my dad's this evening...took the opportunity to shoot a couple more shots of my lil bro's 71.

I usually save edited shots for a Sunday bump but these looked horrible without adjustments.

Forgot to throw this one in last week.

And now the What's it Worth? A guy offered to sell me this box, it's 40" wide 18" deep and 61" tall. It's a Craftsman roller ball griplatch box. Claims he paid $1200 for it about 3 yrs ago, still looks new aside from some dust. Offered it to me for $650...then he came down to $600...Worth it??

I also took my recently relocated granny out to lunch today...She's all but blind...had no idea that I took her pic.

I swiped these next two from the HAMB...Guy said he spotted this Charger pulling about a 20ft trailer on the freeway this week. Said the driver looked about 75 yrs old. Even if the car's a clone, they bring good money!

Not a care in the world!

Pass on the exhaust. The winged wnder is cool.Kinda weird to use for a tow rig though.
My wife got me the same box in stainless for around $1000.00 on sale and with my Craftsman Club discount.$650.00 is probably pretty fair.Took forever to get mine thru Sears online.About 3 months.

you can get about the same size snap-on box for that money. it'd be used... but it'd hold it's value too.

guess I could get one to the carolinas, if i was reeeel motivated like. will trade the haul for a nice DSR camera! looks like fun taking pictures.

Great pics. Go for the tool box and that '54 soundbite makes me want to pull that stovebolt out of my '71 and put a built 350 in it's place. Maybe next year... I just want to drive it on the road one time.

Re: Saturday pics (1-10) This n that and WIW

Thanks guys! I'm still thinking on the box...I could use it...gotta make some space. As far as finding a Snap On for that same price...Not around here. This box was priced to me about three weeks ago and since then I've been watching craigslist in Atlanta, Chattanooga, Nashville and Knoxville. All of the Bigger name boxes that I've seen have been considerably higher. Granted I haven't found any that are these exact dimensions. I've also found some Craftsman boxes that were cheaper but they weren't half this size. I may pull the trigger on it next payday. I just found out yesterday that my dad sold his house. That's good for him (especially considering the market) but since my lil brother lives on the same property as he does...he'll be homeless soon. Not to worry my pops isn't going to put him out in the cold...I'll probably end up having to store a lot of stuff in my building for a while until they can get settled. Space is about to be at a premium around here.

As far as the engine goes. The car was all stock when we got it. It was a straight six (as were all of them in 54) with a 3 speed on the column. The replacement engine is a 350 with a th350 behind it. We found a low mileage engine from a 75 Impala for our base. We sent off the heads and had them worked. We also had the block vatted and the cylinders honed and had new cam bearings and freeze plugs installed. It was put back together with all new bearings, oil pump, rings, pushrods blah blah blah. The cam is a Competition Cams 268 piece. We also used Competition Cams 1.52 roller tip rocker arms. An Edelbrock performer intake and carburetor tops things off along with an HEI distributor.

I just went back and looked through my files and I don't have one single picture of the engine with it installed. It's not that we're ashamed of it but this engine compartment wasn't built to be "shown". Christy didn't even want us to paint the block after it had been vatted. We did fog it with some cast grey paint while she wasn't looking. It kinda gave it a cool effect when the thin areas flash rusted. She wanted the engine to look like we just found it lying around and threw it in...Or maybe she wanted it to look like a conversion that had been done a long time ago. The intake was dirty and left that way. The air cleaner lid was a chrome piece that had more rust and pits on it then it did chrome....we picked it up out of the scrap metal pile at Brian's. We also added a set of vintage cast aluminum finned valve covers that had been cleaned with acid or sandblasted (don't know which). The covers kinda have an "as cast" look to them, definitly not an off the shelf or Speedway item. I guess I need to make it a point to get a couple engine shots for next weeks batch of pics. In the meantime here's a vid from when we first fired it off...you can almost see it towards the end.

And yes! That was a 1980 Z28 that she and I were riding in. We were coming back from having some fried chicken and beer at WOW (World of Wings for the uninitiated).

i have the same kind of toolbox but only the drawers on the left and it was around 500 bucks. so adding nine more drawers on the right for 100 bucks more is definitely worth it.

Great pics as always! Toolbox is worth it. We have one twice the size, it's a special edition Snap-On, worth about $5K.

I say grab that box. if it is honest to god as new condition, then check what it sells for now... and what 6 bills will get you new. That even has the rollers on the drawers (bearings) Well worth it IMO if you need it/will be needing it.

Matt, they look kinda like flows but they're called "Mellow Tones". I think they're less than half the cost of real Flowmasters.

Cool, Asa. I was just wondering because they don't really sound like Flowmasters, but they have a retro type sound to them(at least in the vid) which is really cool with the theme of the car.
