Air ride question

Ok for those of you who are on bags with stock frame(no z's) my question is fully inflated how high does your front fender sit off the ground (wheel arch to ground)? also what size rim and tire combo are you running? and what size drop spindles are you running?

Thank you, Phil

This is going to depend on your tire size. I'm not sure about the measurement you are looking for but my a arms touch the ground when dropped.

Re: Air ride question

You could + or - the stroke of the bag your going to use to roughly determine where the body will wind up.A little project Im working on, wanted to lay frame but also wanted max travel so a little measuring and mock up determined where the bags should sit.

23 pages of bagged c-10's in the suspension section. I've looked through all of them several times for ideas.

Re: Air ride question

Alright wdrthird, How'd you do it?

I don't want to squash this thread, do you have a build up some where?

The only travel I have now is when the tires deflate daily.

Sorry, no build thread. First I gotta say, the air ride was already on my truck when I bought it, but the previous owner was one of my closest friends so I watched/helped with the build. The front is a basic setup, but instead of using cups on the lower control arms to mount the bags, the top of the factory lower control arm was cut out enough for the bag to pass through without rubbing, then a plate was welded to the bottom of the lower control arm and the bag bolts directly to that. The back has a homemade 4 link with a panhard bar. Theres a pretty big notch up through the bed to get down over the 22's. The bed floor was raised 5 inchs to make room for the fuel cell. The back of the cab had to be notched slightly to make clearance for the drive shaft. The exhaust runs through the crossmember to keep it from dragging. Its far from laying frame, but it will set the stock front crossmember on the ground. It still has the stock inner fenders up front. I think I have some pics of underneath the truck from the last time I had it up on the lift, but they're on my other computer, if I can get it to work long enough I'll try to dig them up.

Mine is in winter storage, so no access right now. I wish mine was as low as WDRTHIRD.

Re: Air ride question

I would also like to thank wdrthird. Your truck will be a role model to many here; for you have excatly what owners are looking for, including myself.

And your writting was clear and easy to understand - even though I haven't seen any damn detail pictures. J/K.

Thanks for the quick responce and answering the original question.

Re: Air ride question

What did you do to drop your truck wdrthird? I just checked mine and I only get 23.5" and 24" when aired out. I ran your tire size against mine and yours are .4" taller in the front and 1.3" taller in the rear. You must have a step notch because my rear diff touches the underside of the bed.
