Will a power steering gearbox from a 67-72 bolt up on a 63 without the adapter kit?

Re: power steering box?
Without drilling new holes, to compensate for correct steering column geometry, and offsetting the box, to avoid contacting the frame rail...no.

It is possible but the bracket makes it easier.

Re: power steering box?
Thanks guys. This is the best site ever. I've been collecting parts for a year now and I'm about to start working on my truck. I've got new spindles and rotors from a 71, also the rearend. Want to do power steering while I doing the swap. I'm just waiting for my new springs to come in. Thanks again!

Re: power steering box?
Thanks Slepysal. I have access to a 67-72 box or a 73 up. I just thought that if the older one was a bolt on I would get it. But if not I will get the newer one. Thanks again, Dustin

Re: power steering box?
????- even though the high pressure hose connecting to the gearbox is flared, does it still use the oring down in there?

Re: power steering box?
i think there is an oring at the base that the flare seals also/maybe?? i installed a ps kit and the hi press. conn. leaks, and i'm thinking its because there was no oring in there.

Re: power steering box?
if it is flared it doesn't use an o-ring
there is a machined conical surface that the flare seats against are you sure your pump and box match?

Re: power steering box?
The fittings for the English theaded boxes are just inverted flare, no o-ring. I am not sure when they went metric but it was in the 80's.

Re: power steering box?
yeh, its some braided ps hoses, they are a little stiff to work with, so i might just have to take it off and check it out.

Re: power steering box?
Speedway sells fittings to convert the ps to Stainless Steel braid and AN fittings. Don't know if anyone is interested but thought I would mention it.
