Unless some one added them as an aftermarket they were never installed.

Re: 1962 chevy c10 hazard lights

Emergency flashers were available as an R.P.O. on the '60-'66 Chevy trucks. They plug into the factory harness, so there is no evidence of emergency flashers, if they were not a factory or dealer option, previously installed on the truck.

Awesome!!! Do the hazard switch tie in to the head light switch? and/or the wires leading to the hazard switch?

Re: 1962 chevy c10 hazard lights

no, it plugs inline with the steering column plug(turn signal switch) and a power wire to the fuse-box.
there is a light bulb in the red part you pull out that flashes with the hazards

I agree, it is very cool IMO!!

Hey Bud,
Was reverse lights an option in 1960-1963? I think it was. I just put a pair on my truck with a toggle switch, but I'm thinking it was an option.

My dad had either an 64-66 stepside with a camper shell on the back, and I remembered seeing pictures with the reverse lights on the rear fenders itself. Was that how they came?

Re: 1962 chevy c10 hazard lights

i also discovered that the previous owner added later model steering column.
Scenario: hazard light switch is on the column, and it doesn't work, however, when i engage the turn signal switch, the indicator light begin to flash, when i engage the hazard switch the turn signal indicator light stops working.

Re: 1962 chevy c10 hazard lights

to get the newer flasher switch to work you need to add another flasher for the hazards.
can you post a pic of the column...
i believe all it would take is a all time hot supply (with a flasher in series) to the hazard switch......
if the column is like my stock '80, should be a brown wire coming from the column

Re: 1962 chevy c10 hazard lights

in the quick reply at the bottom of the page, click on go advanced,
then click on this if you are uploading from your computer
or this if you are using a pic that is online
should be self explanatory from there.
if you are uploading from your computer, make sure the pics aren't too big.
if they are you can get a sweet image re-sizer HERE
ask away if you have problems

Re: 1962 chevy c10 hazard lights

Understood.
Scenario - I locate the brown wire.
2 wire flasher socket - attach one wire to a constant hot N the other wire to the brown.

Re: 1962 chevy c10 hazard lights

yes, be careful though I have seen a plug with 2 brown wires, not sure what that is about. and make sure where you are getting power from is fused, or put a fuse in line with the brown wire. 10a or 15a should suffice.
let me know how it turns out
