steering column choices

i have a 72 c10 longbed with what i think, if i remember what the PO told me, an '87? cougar tilt column in it. the tilt is all wonky. i would like to replace the column but i'm not sure what years from what trucks will work with it. or am i better off just trying to fix the one that's on there?

Re: steering column choices

you're best off going with an original 67-72 unit, or one from a chevy van up to around 1980?? will also work with minimal modification. There are more expensive aftermarket units also...

hopefully, someone will chime in with more specifics on the van columns, but the tilt versions are commonly used in these trucks.

Re: steering column choices

yeah i've seen those used. wanted to make sure it's not too much of a pain to install. as far as fabricating goes. difficult to find the 72's but easily found the van column.
