seat belt question

i've been noticing that most of the '67's have the old style seat belts, but no retractors and '68's and up have newer push button buckles w/retractors.
my '67 and a couple of others that i've seen have retractors with the old style buckles. were retractors an option in '67?

Re: seat belt question

Gotta love this board, I learn something new all the time..

I have never seen a retractor in 67.. Every one I have encountered always had the old "Lay all over the floor belts"

Re: seat belt question

I'm not sure. My '67 came with the 1967 buckles and no retractors, but I just bought a '67 set with retractors.

Re: seat belt question

very interesting. i know I tried getting the 67 style buckle, but they wouldn't buckle to my 70 retracted style belt... only saw the "floopin on the floor" style non retactable kind.

Re: seat belt question

I have a set of each here that were pulled from 67 model trucks- blue set has no retracters and a fawn set that has retracters both with 67 type buckle. Early vs late- weren't belts optional in 67 and mandatory in 68?

Re: seat belt question

belts were standard in 67 in GM light duty pick ups. not sure if they were federally mandated yet, but they were installed on every GM light duty truck built in the model year 67.
