what is the tire pressure supposed to be at on a 2wd burb? I have it at 32 right now and it seems to be to low.......(it's wearing the tires on the outside of the tread only). That means that there under inflated, right?

What kind of tires do you have? The correct pressure will be on the sidewall. Also are they wearing like that in the back or just the front? If just the front it could be an alinement problem or worn frontend. If they are wearing like that in front and back, make sure your tire guage is correct.

If your pressure is correct, and the frontend is tight the only other thing I could think of is the rims being too wide for the tires. I hope you find the problem.

Ignore the pressure the trucks owners manual says...
Tires have come a long way in the past 30+ years. There is only one maker of biased ply tires (for light duty...it's in a 16.5 size) and these trucks were built to be driven on those old things.
Many of us get larger, wider, lower profile tires and install them on here. If the truck calls for 33 PSI, and the 20 inch 295/50 calls for a max of 100 psi...the tire would get destoyed in short order if you ran it at 33 PSI. Not to mention the wheel would be ruined too.
My advice (not being an expert) would be to spend a day in a parking lot driving it real hard, and inflating a little at a time till you get the best performance. (the little pumps that plug into your Cigar lighter is a very good thing to have) Then, on the way home, hit the freeway and drive in your normal maner. Pull over after a few miles, and check your tread for even heat. If the center is too hot, you are over inflated. If the edges are too hot, you need to pump them up more.
For drag racing on Radials, you can do burn out tests. Again, in a large parking lot or designated area, romp on the throttle, laying a good 30 feet of rubber. Go and look at the patch, (or patches if you have posi) and 'read' the patch. You are looking for a solid patch of rubber. If it is light in the center...you need more air, if it is all concitrating on the center, you need less air.
Tis what the research told me when I did an english paper in High School. I called up Good year, BFG, Nitto, Michilin, and a couple others. (too bad I didn't learn to spell in school huh?)
They wanted to give me formulas to figure the weight of the vehicle, and load rating of the tire and blah-blah-blah. So I asked for laymans terms and this is what I basicly got from them all.

cool thanks for the info! don't worrie bout the spelling..... (mine sucks too) LOL I can't do the burnout test........ she just won't do it....... even with the brakes locked it pushes the whole burb foward and only squels the tires a little!

Just don't go more than what it says on the sidewall. That is the max psi the tire will handle according to the manufacturer.

Brian what does the tire say??? If it's 50psi max cold, I would run 40. Done that on all my 30x9.50's mounted on a 7" rim, without any wear problems. If you are going to transport some BIG girls bump the rears up to 50.
Also for checking and or adding pressure to a warm/hot tire, put in 4psi over what you want. When the tire cools the pressure will decrease.50psi on a hot tire will be about 45-46 psi after the tire cools.
