Guess I'll post the bit I've done

I bought my truck back in July. I'm the third owner, but the second to get to drive her. She hadn't run in 7 years when I bought her. I just gave her a "hot rod primer" rattle can job last weekend and put on a new Q-jet.

It was a show truck during the '70's to 80's. So you could have. It even had all the show badges epoxied to the inside drivers fender.

Well at least I'm not the only one who thought so. The gold shag carpet was the selling point for me

You have NO idea! I would like to take a baseball bat to the guy that did it. I think I've pulled out 150 yards of useless wire that ran nowhere, I'm having to re-wire everything. I'm debating stripping it all out this weekend and starting from scratch, not a fun job but I got stranded last weekend by a short to positive! I had to jimmy the wiring so I could drive it home.

I like the newer grill that you have on that black one opposed to the red one.

Re: Guess I'll post the bit I've done

Here's a pic of the custom wired fuse block. Wipers arn't hooked to wiper spot, radio was wired there, please note the specific "radio" spot that had a empty wire wired to it. Actually I think the gauges wired to a ACC spot is the only thing that is in the "correct" spot.

Re: Guess I'll post the bit I've done

that glove box shot is one I remember...I was thinking how could an old truck need that many wires or fuses....
looks like the guy went crazy with the amber lights, I saw 1 under the hood too...
IMO, It should be pretty easy to find a 456 in a wrecking yard in so cal, and just rob the whole harness out of it. you have 3 stock harnesses to search out, under dash, generator / headlight, and the starter/heater harness on the right side of the firewall. I robbed out of 3 different trucks to get an uncut/unmolested one fore my 61. was cheap and pretty easy to reinstall

Re: Guess I'll post the bit I've done

I'm with you when it comes to wanting to take a bat to a PO... My truck endured both the State of California (who installed numerous radios, antennas, and beacon-lights), and the 50-year old Gamer I bought it from, who apeared to enjoy Radio Shack immensely though he didn't believe in fuses.

I've rewired the entire front end on my truck, and I'm still chasing gremlins...

Your rig looks about three times as complex! Best of luck. Painless Performance might be a good way to go.

Good times! Welcome to the board. These guys rule.
