Its the lines to the oil cooler in the radiator. You should be able to plug them or cut them off and have them welded shut at the aluminum block if you dont want to run a cooler. They only run part of the oil thru the cooler not all of it, or you can just run a cooler

what rob said, goes to oil cooler. I just went and bought a blockoff plate from gm and did away with the cooler/tubes.

It's the plate that was on the pan when I got it. I think there are some different versions of it. I don't see why you can't take a piece of 1/4" aluminum and make your own block-off.

I used 2 plugs and some rectorseal, cost about $2.00, and have done it on a couple of engines with no problems.
