stepside fender

I have a 63 short wheel base stepside. The driver side fender has the spare tire cut out. Does anyone make a patch panel to get rid of it? I'm stuck at work and was looking on ebay and found a fender without it and was thinking about buying it. It has damage on the back. I thought about cutting them both in half and welding them together. I just don't want to cut up a good fender. Any ideas?

Re: stepside fender

Welcome to the forums from Kansas City, KS.

I am not aware of a driver side stepside rear fender spare tire patch panel, but there are several suppliers that sell reproduction stepside fenders without the spare tire cutout.

Here is a list of several aftermarket truck parts suppliers, specific to the '60-'66 Chevy trucks, some that sell patch panels and reproduction body parts and some that don't.

Re: stepside fender

I wouldn't cut up the one from your truck if it is not rusty. There are people out there that would buy it because they want the spare tire cut-out. I would try to find a good used fender and sell the one you have to recoup the cost. Just my $.02.
